Sensopad is a spinout from Sagentia (www.sagentia.com). The company has developed a new type of touch sensing technology which has applications in a number of consumer orientated markets. As a technology company, Sensopad lacked the in house expertise to communicate how their technology would bring benefits to consumers.
Fripp Design and Research were commissioned to develop a range of conceptual consumer products; pushing the boundaries of where the technology could be best applied. These ranged from mobile phones to MP3 players. Where Fripp Design and Research added value to the whole process was the ability to recognise the potential of the technology to revolutionise the whole hand held interactive media market. In essence Fripp Design and Research came up with the idea of developing a single consumer product which could be customised, via various hardware interfaces, into any consumer device required.
As a result of the work undertaken by Fripp, Sensopad are in negotiations with major telecommunication device manufacturers about the licensing of their technology.
