After spending 5 years establishing Fripp Design and Research as one of the top Industrial Design practices in the UK Steve Roberts is relinquishing his position as Managing Director of Fripp Design and Research.
The company is delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Fripp to the position of Managing Director.
“After 5 years, working closely with Tom and Sue (Steve’s wife), building Fripp Design and Research’s reputation and revenues, it is now time to hand over the reigns to the next generation. Fripp has some very exciting opportunities in the area of rapid manufacturing which require Tom’s expertise to drive the business to the next level” stated Steve.
Steve will be staying on as a non executive Director to provide Tom with support and guidance in his new role “Tom has the unanimous support of all the Shareholders and I wish him well in what is a very exciting time for the business” concluded Steve.
Tom takes up his new appointment on January 4th 2011.

This appears to be a well balanced team to us, reflecting the Sheffield City Regions focus on innovative engineering and manufacture.
We do have some reservation about the appointment of Phil Jones of Sheffield Hallam University as they actively compete against local business in Industrial Design; a key sector identified to be supported in the LEP bid document.
